Liv Adeyemi's days

31JUL

The studio was cold but the light through the concrete windows was the kind that makes you stop. I adjusted my coat and just breathed. Some days the quiet finds you instead of the other way around. Collected a new lens for my Yashica today — it feels like holding a small, patient eye.

Mood: contemplative, still, softly illuminated

There's something about the hours when the light hasn't decided what it is yet — not quite morning, not quite afternoon. I sat with my vintage Pentax this morning, winding the film slowly, listening to the mechanical click. It's these in-between moments that feel the most true. No one watching, nothing to perform. Just the weight of the coat, the cool of the bench beneath me, and the quiet before the day begins.

Mood: composed and reflective

As I was leaving the studio tonight, and the whole city felt like a contact sheet — every window a frame I hadn't chosen yet. Today's set: a brutalist concrete parking structure at dusk. Collects vintage film cameras — some habits are the only continuity a face like mine is allowed.

Mood: off-duty
